Our grading system for Children is based on achieving 11 belts prior to obtaining a Black Belt. When the child reaches the required number of classes they will be tested by their Instructor in their regular karate class. Testing includes terminology, techniques and a belt Form. If passed they will be awarded a black stripe on their belt. Once the child passes the 3 requirements they will then attend a Grading class held once a month and be graded by Sensei Rick Joslin. Grading fees start at approximately $40.00 and up. If the child passes he/she is awarded a certificate and their next belt.
Jr Black Belts can be obtained by students between the ages of 12 and 15 years of age. Students at the age of 16 are then graded for their 1st Degree Black Belt in a Black Belt Grading held annually
All children will be assessed by their Instructor and tested on techniques and perhaps their Club Forms. All students will eventually have to know all of Joslin's Forms or Katas. Depending on their assessment and years of training their Instructor will determine whether the student keeps their present belt.
